$500 Savings Challenge with a Deck of Cards! (Free Printable) – Low Dough Family

I love a simple and easy challenge to save money! Sometimes I have huge goals that I want to tackle and other times I want to knock out some smaller goals.

The deck of cards savings challenge is a perfect challenge to knock out some smaller goals. Examples of smaller goals are starting an emergency fund, family fun weekend, new clothing wardrobe, or a Christmas present fund.

How to save $500 in 30 days/ 52 weeks/ Bi-weekly/Any time frame you want!

All you need to get started is a deck of cards. If you already have a deck, just make sure that it includes all 52 cards, plus 2 jokers. If you don’t have a deck of cards, check out your local dollar tree or dollar store.

Now the awesome part of this challenge is that the timeline is completely up to you. You can do the challenge over a year, by doing it weekly and just make 2 extra payments. So maybe you draw an additional card the first two times that you draw the number 2 cards?

If you get paid every 2 weeks, you can draw two cards every paycheck and do the same as above where you draw an additional card the first two times you draw the number 2 cards.

If you want to finish quicker, you can also do this as a 2 month or 1 month challenge! Pick a time frame that you want to complete this challenge in or play when you can. There is no fixed timeline on this challenge.

The Rules

First, you want to take your new deck out and remove any informational cards. Then shuffle them repeatedly until they are no longer in order.

Now when it is your designated time (pay day or whenever you choose), draw your card and look at the tracker for the associated dollar amount. For cards numbered 1 through 10, the amount will be the same as the face value of the card. For face cards like the jack, queen, king, ace, and jokers those amounts are higher and range from $13-30.

You can put this money in a savings envelope, a jar, or any place that you won’t spend it.

After you pay each value based on the card, just color in the corresponding card. So, if you draw the 3 of hearts, go down to the number 3, and color in the card with the heart in it. This will give you a visual of how much you have saved already, and a preview of what cards are left in the deck.
