Grocery Price Showdown: Sprouts vs PCC

Today we are going to compare prices at Sprouts and PCC Community Market. Both stores are known for their healthy and organic options, so this is a good side by side test.

It will be interesting to see if either of these stores will be close to our $100 grocery budget!

Key Takeaways

  • Sprouts was the winner at $138.26 (but was still 41% or $56.87 higher than Walmart)
  • Sprouts offered some good deals by offering bulk prices. This is where you just weigh out how much you need (oats, raisins, rice, etc.)
  • PCC does offer a store brand, but it was very expensive.

Meal Plan and Grocery List

I think it is always best to compare prices using a real shopping list and not just random items. So, this week’s menu plan is for a family of four and covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks/sweet treat.

We priced this menu out at the Walmart Super Center in Seattle WA and the total came out to $81.39. So, let’s see how Sprouts and PCC Community Markets do with the same list!

Total:$197.34

Food for Thought

Just for giggles, I always like to see if only buying what was cheaper at each store would have saved us more money. PCC was only cheaper on one item (apples) so the total savings would have been $0.65.

I don’t really think $0.65 is worth it to stop by both stores since it really was just for one product, unless I was already close to PCC and had the 5 minutes to spare.

I am not one that typically buys organic or all natural products, but I was highly impressed that you could for this meal plan. It was really only $40 over our $100 budget so it may be worth it to some families!
