Sloppy Joe Pasta
Sloppy Joe Pasta
Ingredients
- 1lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion (chopped)
- 15oz sloppy joe sauce
- 8oz elbow noodles
- 2 cups cheddar cheese
- sour cream
- 1lb Brussel sprouts
- oil/favorite seasoning
- French Bread
Instructions
1. In a pot, boil water for pasta. We will cook the pasta until tender and set aside. 2. Clean and trim brussel sprouts. I like to cut them in half if they are large but leave whole if on the smaller side. Drizzle the Brussels with oil and your favorite seasoning. Place in airfryer at 360 degrees for about 9 minutes. I like to shake about halfway. You may add a few more minutes if you like them more browned. 3. In a large skillet, brown ground beef and chopped onion until fully cooked. Drain any excess grease. Then add in sloppy joe sauce and stir well to combine. Cook over medium heat until sauce starts to boil. 4. Add in cooked pasta and stir well. Turn off heat, sprinkle top with shredded cheese and put the lid on to melt the cheese. 5. Serve the pasta with a side of Brussel sprouts and a slice of French Bread. (You can make it into garlic bread as well if you like!)
Possible Swaps
You can easily make this meal your own with what you have on hand. Ground turkey, chicken, or even plant-based crumbles can replace the ground beef without changing the flavor much once the sauce is added.
If you don’t have elbow noodles, any short pasta like rotini, penne, or shells will work just as well.
A can of tomato sauce mixed with a tablespoon of brown sugar, ketchup, and a dash of Worcestershire can stand in for the sloppy joe sauce if needed.
Any cheese you already have—like Colby Jack or mozzarella—will melt nicely on top.
Swap Brussels sprouts for another easy veggie side such as green beans, corn, or a salad. And if you don’t have French bread, serve with sandwich rolls, biscuits, or even crackers on the side for a complete meal.
