For this price comparison, I am using prices available in Roeland Park, Kansas. I will be selecting items for our meal plan that are the absolute cheapest.
This means mostly generic store brand options and the smallest size needed. This may not be the best value, but we are going for the cheapest option.
We are assuming that we already have kitchen basics like cooking oil, seasonings, salt/pepper, and baking powder at home. Everything else needed for the meal plan will need to be purchased.

Deli/Meats | $27.13 | $26.32 |

Aldi may have cheaper prices on some items, but their availability of sizes and options is limited, so they don’t always come out the cheapest.
If these two stores are my main options for grocery shopping, I would split my list between the two stores. I would shop mainly produce, meats, frozen, and dairy at Aldi. Then get most the dry goods at Price Chopper.
Overall, both stores are pretty close price wise, so I would focus on teh sales flyer each week and meal plan based on what is on sale. This is also a good way to start stocking up on basics for your pantry and freezer for using on future weeks.
