Healthy Meal Plan on a Budget (Week#50)

This week we are really in the thick of winter, so it is time to bring out the crockpot as much as possible. Not only does a crockpot make your kitchen smell amazing, but I have included meals that are basically dump and cook. We won’t have to do much but just finish them off when it is time for dinner!

We try to keep our budget for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for less than $100. Our total this week in Pocatello, Idaho was $96.67. I am pretty confident that you may already have some items on the grocery list, so you can easily get your total less than mine!

Grocery List

If you want to see the full shopping list on Walmart in your area, all you have to do is click my Walmart Grocery list and change the zip code to your area. *This is an affiliate link, and I do make a small commission on any purchases, but at no additional cost to you!*

Please note, that every once in a while, an item that I pick turns out to be regional. This means that it may be a much higher price in some areas. Always double check the list and if you see an item that is much higher than it should be adjust accordingly.

In case you are not familiar with all the items, I have included some visuals!

Daily Breakdown & Recipes

This is just a suggestion of how to order these meals, but you can do them any way you like!

Where is Day 7?

Day 7 typically falls on a Saturday at my house, so I leave that full day for leftovers. One of the easiest ways to save money on groceries is to use them all up.

This not only keeps us from throwing away a bunch of food, but also makes us more intentional with what we buy.

I also like to clean out my fridge on Saturdays, so I start with a clean slate for the next week!

Low-Cost Fruit Options to Add:

I am a huge fan of adding fruit to dinners. This small, yummy part helps kids know they will love at least something on their plate.

So, whenever I have a little wiggle room in my budget, I try to pick up 2-3 fruits to add to meals. Here are some good options that you can grab this week! (Try mixing fresh fruit and canned fruit together for some added variety)

It’s also been shown that most Americans don’t eat enough fruit and vegetables, so add some to your dinner! (Remember you don’t need a ton of fruit either, just a 1/4 to 1/2 a cup can help fill you up at mealtime.)
