Grocery Price Showdown: The Fresh Market vs Target
For this last showdown, I was struggling to find another grocery store option. I tend to not include stores that I know only offer all natural/super healthy products just because they never come close to our budget.
The Fresh Market was one of the only options I had left that offered online shopping, so we will compare their prices to Target this week.
We like to compare real grocery lists for families, so this will be very eye opening if you prefer organic or all natural products.
Key Takeaways
- Target was easily the winner by a land slide, and they came out pretty close to Walmart’s total as well!
- The Fresh Market prices were just insane for certain items like Chicken Breasts, Quick Oats, and Chicken Boullion.
- Target’s prices were pretty average and came out well under $100.
Meal Plan and Grocery List
Our meal plan this week is for a family of four and our goal is to be under $100. This plan covers breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and a sweet treat!
Here is our shopping list:
Now, our total came out to $72.05 at the local Walmart in Pensacola, Florida so it will be interesting to see how The Fresh Market and Target compare to that. Will we get under $100?
Is Target Cheaper than The Fresh Market?
The Fresh Market is typically very expensive, so I predict that Target will easily come out cheaper. In fact, The Fresh Market could easily be double the total of Target.

Food for Thought
Normally, I would check to see if shopping both locations could save us more money, but in this case, it would not be worth it at all.
The Fresh Market’s prices were so high that Target was cheaper on every item on the list.
To be honest, if you are trying to save money on your grocery budget, I do not think that shopping at The Fresh Market is the place to taking your grocery list.
