Grocery Price Showdown: Spokane, Washington
Every week we take our weekly meal plan and shop it at all the available grocery stores in the area that allow online shopping.
We know that not everyone likes to shop at Walmart, so this can show you how other’s stores pricing compares!
Stores this week:
- Walmart
- Target
- Fred Meyer
- Safeway
- Grocery Outlet
- Yoke’s
- Rosauer’s
- Super 1 Foods
- Albertsons
This week was a little weird to me. I love looking at all the different towns and seeing how the competition stacks up….
Unfortunately, I figured out that potentially 5 out of 9 stores were all related! We had the big 3 included Fred Meyer (Kroger owned), Safeway, and Albertsons. This goes to show exactly what will happen to a town like this if the big merger goes through!
The other 2 stores Rosauers and Super 1 Foods are part of the same company as well!

Spokane, WA Grocery Store Prices from Cheapest to Highest
Please note that Grocery Outlet was missing 4 items this week. Albertsons and Safeway were combined into one line because they are basically the same store now. There was no difference in their pricing at each store.
Here is the breakdown of all the grocery prices:
Zucchini at Target was sold in a 2 pack so that is why it is higher!
Grocery Outlet only had a 6 pack of Ramen Noodles, and did not offer individual packs.
What if we shopped multiple stores?
Sometimes you can save a good amount of money by shopping multiple stores, so we looked at just Fred Meyer and Yoke’s.
If we only bought what was cheapest at each store, our total did come up less than each store’s total, and would have been $78.11.
Unfortunately, that was still about $11 more expensive than just shopping at Walmart. So, this week, I would have just saved the time and money by buying everything I needed at Walmart!
