Grocery Price Showdown: Mabelvale (Little Rock), Arkansas

This was a fun week for me because I got to explore some new stores. I have been doing price comparisons for 3 years now, so I am pretty good at predicting the outcomes.

So, it was really nice to see some new places and compare product offerings! I was most excited to see a Dollar General Market, which is their version of a mini grocery store.

In the past, I have not been able to find most of my grocery list at these types of stores, so I was very happy that this week it worked out!

We know that not everyone likes shopping at Walmart, so this is the list of stores that we did a price comparison on with our weekly menu!

  • Aldi
  • Kroger
  • Harps
  • Target
  • 10 Box Cost Plus
  • Dollar General Market
  • Walmart
  • Edward’s Food Giant

These were all the grocery stores within 20 miles of zip code: 72103. Statistics show that the average person is more likely to grocery shop within 20 miles of where they live or work!

Mabelvale, AR Grocery Store Prices from Cheapest to Highest

Every store had all the items this week, so that was nice to see! 10 Box Cost Plus and Harps did use Instacart, so their prices may be higher than in store.

The rest of the stores used their own websites, so their prices should be comparable to in-store, but sometimes that does vary.

Here is the breakdown of all the grocery prices:

What if we shopped multiple stores?

Sometimes you can save a lot of money just by going to more than one store, so we put that to the test with Kroger and Aldi this week.

If we only shopped what was cheaper at each store, our total would have been $74.44. That was definitely cheaper than Kroger’s total of $78.95 and Aldi’s total of $81.44.

Unfortunately, shopping both places still ended up about $5 more expensive than just shopping at Walmart. This is one of those weeks, that I would definitely consider getting most of the basics at Walmart and just getting the best deals elsewhere!
