Grocery Price Showdown: Giant Foods vs Lidl
Today we will do a grocery price comparison between Giant and Lidl in Baltimore, to see who has better prices.
By comparing prices at grocery stores before we go, we can potentially spot area where we can save more on our budget.
We like to use real grocery lists for a family, so that our comparisons are actually helpful for the average person.

Our total came out at $59.96 at the local area Walmart, so let’s see if Lidl or Giant can get close to that total.
Is Lidl Cheaper than Giant?
Lidl is a discounted retailer and sometimes can have great prices, but occasionally they don’t always carry what we need. Giant Foods is a typical grocery store and hopefully we get lucky with some sale items!

Lidl came out cheaper than Giant Foods with a total of $81.65. Unfortunately, they did not carry the pizza dough we needed. Giant Foods came out close with a total of $87.36 (about 6% higher).
Food for Thought
I was happy to see that both places came out in the $80s but I was disappointed that Lidl did not carry anything that we could use for pizza dough. This means that if we shopped at Lidl, we would have to get the dough somewhere else.
If we went to both grocery stores, and only bought what was cheapest at each place, our total would have been $70.04. That means we could potentially save another $11.61 (about 14%).
I think that going to both places or at least doing pick up orders would be worth the $11 savings!
