Grocery Price Showdown: Arlington, Texas

This was a really great week for a grocery price comparison. First, we have a super yummy under $70 menu. The more important thing was we have some heavy hitters in Arlington to compare!

I know that not everyone loves to shop at Walmart, so it’s good to look at other local stores and see how they all compare. This week we see that there are some really good options for a low cost!

Stores we compared this week:

  • Walmart
  • Aldi
  • Target
  • Albertsons
  • Kroger
  • Tom Thumb (owned by Albertsons)
  • Sprouts
  • HEB

These were all the grocery stores within 20 miles of zip code: 76006. Statistics show that the average person is more likely to grocery shop within 20 miles of where they live or work!

Arlington, TX Grocery Store Prices from Cheapest to Highest

All the stores used their own website this week for online shopping, but their prices may be slightly different in-store.

*Sprouts was the only store that was missing an item this week!

Here is the breakdown of all the grocery prices:

Please note the only difference in Albertson’s and Tom Thumb was that Albertsons was out of stock on the cheapest Italian Sausage. Everything else at each store was the exact same product and price!

What if we shopped multiple stores?

Sometimes you can save a lot of money just by going to more than one store, so we put that to the test with HEB and Kroger.

If we only shopped what was cheaper at each store, our total would have been $68.30. That was definitely cheaper than HEB’s total of $71.13 and Kroger’s total of $74.00.

This was actually even cheaper than Walmart’s total of $68.84! Yes it was only a 54 cent savings from Walmart, but it shows you can shop for less if you do it with a good strategy!
