Easy Homemade Coffee Creamer

I was quite surprised when I found out that most coffee creamers that you find in the refrigerated section are not actually dairy or creamer based. In fact, most are made of mostly oil and water.

Now I still love to drink my coffee with creamer, but I wanted to try to make some myself. I do still buy the flavored creamers when on sale, but now I mostly just make my own.

I will say that in general, it is not much cheaper if at all to make it yourself, but by making it with basic ingredients, you can control what you are drinking.

Basic Coffee Creamer Recipe

I have tried other recipes that require you to heat the ingredients on the stove, and honestly I am not a huge fan of those. It is very easy to scorch milk or they require the use of heavy cream which will add to the expense.

Flavor Options for Homemade Coffee Creamer

While I love the base recipe because it is a basic vanilla, sometimes you want a little excitement in your coffee! So here are easy ways to add a little extra flavor!

Now just like with all recipes, this is a great base. I suggest you add your flavorings slowly and taste as you go. You can always add more flavor, but you can’t take it away.

Also be careful of adding powders to your homemade creamer, because you will need to shake them well before using. I got a cup full of cinnamon by mistake! OOPS!

Another note to add, is that some baking extracts can get really expensive so don’t go out and buy a ton unless you know you will use them for other recipes. I raided my baking cabinet and regularly keep an eye out for sales!

I’m still experimenting with flavors and encourage you to explore as well. Let me know what flavors you have tried and loved, and maybe which ones didn’t work well for you!
