Budget Meal Plan: 6 Dinners for $60 at Walmart (Week 75)

This week’s meal plan proves you don’t have to spend a fortune to eat well. Our total at the Super Walmart near Olympia, Washington came to just $55.76 for six full dinners! Since this menu includes a lot of basic ingredients, you might be able to get your total even lower if you already have some of these items in your pantry.

The best part? These meals aren’t just budget-friendly; they’re also quick and easy weeknight dinners that taste delicious without keeping you stuck in the kitchen. This plan keeps things realistic for busy families while still feeling satisfying at the table.

Big Flavor on a Low Budget

Full Grocery List

If you want to see the full shopping list on Walmart in your area, all you have to do is click my Walmart Grocery list and change the zip code to your area. *This is an affiliate link, and I do make a small commission on any purchases, but at no additional cost to you!*

**** Please note, that every once in a while, an item that I pick turns out to be regional. This means that it may be a much higher price in some areas. Always double check the list and if you see an item that is much higher than normal, just adjust as needed.

Low Budget Family Dinners for Busy Weeknights

Crockpot Chicken Taco Chili with Rice & Cornbread

This cozy chili is made with chicken, beans, corn, and tomatoes, then served over rice with cornbread on the side. You can swap black beans for kidney beans or use tortilla chips instead of cornbread if that’s what you have.

Turkey Pot Pie Casserole

Ground turkey, canned potatoes, mixed veggies, and a creamy sauce are baked under golden biscuits for an easy comfort meal. You can switch out the biscuits for pie crust, or use fresh potatoes if you want a heartier texture.

Baked Bruschetta Chicken with Butter Noodles & Roasted Green Beans

Juicy chicken breasts are topped with a simple tomato, garlic, and basil mixture, then baked until tender and served with buttered noodles and green beans. You can swap green beans for broccoli or zucchini and use any kind of pasta, even egg noodles.

Smoked Sausage & Veggie Rice Pilaf

Smoked sausage, rice, and peas & carrots cook together for a hearty, budget-friendly skillet dinner. You can use mixed veggies instead of peas and carrots, or swap in kielbasa or andouille sausage for extra flavor.

One-Pot Chicken Ramen

This quick stovetop meal uses diced chicken, ramen noodles, and a bag of frozen stir-fry veggies for a fast, filling dinner. Feel free to swap in any frozen veggies you have on hand, or use leftover rotisserie chicken to save time.

Turkey & Mushroom Gravy over Mashed Potatoes with Caesar Salad

Ground turkey is cooked with onions and mushrooms, then simmered in brown gravy and served over mashed potatoes with a fresh Caesar salad on the side. You can make homemade mashed potatoes or swap in frozen spinach instead of mushrooms.

Low-Cost Fruit Options to Add:

I am a huge fan of adding fruit to dinners. This small, yummy part helps kids know they will love at least something on their plate.

So, whenever I have a little wiggle room in my budget, I try to pick up 2-3 fruits to add to meals. Here are some good options that you can grab this week! (Try mixing fresh fruit and canned fruit together for some added variety)

It’s also been shown that most Americans don’t eat enough fruit and vegetables, so add some to your dinner! (Remember you don’t need a ton of fruit either, just a 1/4 to 1/2 a cup can help fill you up at mealtime.)

*Walmart is not always the cheapest when it comes to fresh fruits. Lots of local stores run better sales and have fruit as loss leaders, so check your local stores for some better deals if needed!*
