Easy Savory Muffins: Mix, Match & Make It Yours
We recently went over sweet muffins and someone mentioned on Facebook, what about savory breakfast muffins? This was the perfect moment to adjust the Basic Sweet Muffins recipe for use to make savory muffins!
I really feel like muffins can be the ultimate leftover buster! I recently made a batch of Broccoli Bacon and Cheddar muffins that are so yummy! Personally, I love to top them with a little butter when I reheat them…..like seriously so good!
Basic Muffin Method
Just like the sweet muffins, I like to separate the ingredients into the wet team and the dry team.

The biggest different between the savory muffins and the sweet muffins is that I removed the sugar from the recipe. Now if you wanted to make a muffin with ingredients like sweet corn or just wanted to add some extra sweetness, you can still totally add 1/2 cup of sugar to the mix.
Savory Muffin Flavor Combinations
I really love to use up all the little bits of leftovers in any way possible. That is where this muffin recipe comes in so handy. You can literally make a zillion different flavor combinations!
I have compiled a list of flavor combos based on ingredients I tend to have leftovers of a lot recently:

Who hasn’t had leftover broccoli, taco meat, marinara sauce, or ham right? Those are super easy to make into savory breakfast muffins. (Or as late afternoon snack muffins too!)

I love that really all you need to add flavor to savory muffins is about 1 cup of fun stuff. Just keep in mind that if you add more stuff, you will probably end up with more muffins. I made the Broccoli Bacon muffins and ended up with 14 muffins!

Personally, I am a huge fan of cheese in a savory muffin because it acts like a binder as well as just being tasty. Honestly, you can totally skip the cheese if you like, or you can switch it out for a different dairy option like cottage cheese, ricotta cheese, or even cream cheese!
How can you turn your leftovers into a tasty breakfast or snack muffin?
