Grocery Price Showdown: Mankato, Minnesota

This week we did another 6 Dinners + Dessert for under $70 and we just barely came in under budget! Our total at the Walmart Super Center in Mankato, MN was $69.88. Just 12 cents under.

Now if you are a not a huge fan of shopping at Walmart and choose to shop elsewhere that is totally fine! So, let’s see what the same meal plan would cost at other local grocery stores in this area.

We try to stay within 20 miles and this week we used the zip code 56001. Studies have shown that most people live, work, and shop within 20 miles.

Here is the list of stores this week:

  • Aldi
  • Target
  • Radermacher’s
  • Hy-Vee
  • Cub
  • Family Fresh
  • Coburn’s

These were all the local stores that offered online shopping for delivery or for pick-up orders.

Mankato, MN Grocery Store Prices from Cheapest to Highest

Please note Aldi, Hy-Vee, Target, and Radermacher’s did not have eggplant in stock this week so their totals would be higher if they carried this item.

Radermacher’s was the only store to use Instacart this week, so their prices may be lower in store!

Here is the breakdown of all the grocery prices:

What if we shopped multiple stores?

If we had the time and energy to shop both Aldi and Hy-Vee this week, we may be able to save a few bucks! (Please note neither store had eggplant, so we would still have to go to 3rd location to get that item)

By only buying what was cheapest at each store, our total would have been $71.90!!!

That was definitely cheaper than each stores total ($78.42 & $81.81), but it was not cheaper than Walmart. Walmart was still the cheapest option by $2.02.

It could still be worth grabbing some good deals at each store, but it would probably be cheaper to still pick up some staple items at Walmart.
