How to Use Leftover Eggnog: 8 Simple and Delicious Recipes
Personally, I love eggnog even straight from the bottle (shhh, don’t tell), but my family is not a fan of the thickness. So I’ve gotten pretty creative with using eggnog for the flavor while changing the texture. It turns out you can substitute eggnog for so many things in your everyday recipes, and it makes everything taste like the holidays without being too heavy.
These are my favorite ways to use eggnog besides sipping it as a drink. I would say this is a great list for leftover eggnog, but leftover eggnog never happens at my house LOL!
Fun Eggnog Uses
Eggnog makes a great substitute in so many items!
Eggnog Cinnamon Rolls
Pour eggnog over canned cinnamon rolls before baking for extra soft, gooey rolls with a holiday flavor. Finish with the icing packet or mix powdered sugar with a splash of eggnog for homemade icing. You can also try this method with orange rolls or cream cheese rolls.

Eggnog Dip
Whip cream cheese with eggnog and powdered sugar for a simple dessert dip that pairs with graham crackers, cookies, or fruit. Swap regular cream cheese for vanilla or brown sugar cream cheese for extra sweetness.

Eggnog French Toast Casserole
Cubed bread soaks in an eggnog custard overnight and bakes into a soft, warm breakfast casserole. Brown sugar adds a caramel flavor that blends perfectly with eggnog. Swap French bread for brioche, challah, or even leftover sandwich bread.

Eggnog Muffins
A simple blueberry muffin mix turns into a holiday treat by swapping the milk for eggnog. The eggnog adds sweetness and warmth without changing the texture. Try it with strawberry, banana, cinnamon, or even chocolate chip muffin mix for a fun twist.

Eggnog Overnight Oats
Let the eggnog completely replace the milk for cozy overnight oats. It adds flavor and richness without needing anything extra. Mix in vanilla yogurt for more creaminess or add toppings like pecans, berries, or crushed graham crackers.

Eggnog Pancakes
Use any just-add-water pancake mix and replace the water with eggnog for the easiest holiday pancakes ever. They come out fluffy with a hint of spice. You can add blueberries, chocolate chips, or chopped pecans to change up the flavor.

Eggnog Quick Bread
Make a holiday loaf using a yellow cake mix and eggnog for moisture. Add white chocolate chips, cranberries, or a little cinnamon for extra flavor. This works with spice cake mix, butter pecan cake mix, or even a Chocolate cake mix!

Eggnog Smoothie
Blend eggnog with a banana, a scoop of yogurt, and ice for a creamy and festive smoothie. If you want a lighter option, use half eggnog and half milk. Frozen berries or a spoonful of oats make it even more filling.

One of my favorite things about cooking is realizing that most ingredients are not single use items. They work in so many different ways, and eggnog is the perfect example. You don’t have to limit it to a glass during the holidays.
If you love the flavor, try it in something new and let it bring a little extra joy to your kitchen. Ingredients can do a whole lot more than we give them credit for, so don’t let them fool you. And honestly, I wish they sold eggnog all year round!
