Weeknight Winners: 3 Quick Dinners for Under $30 (MM#28)

Crispy fried onions aren’t just for green bean casserole anymore! These crunchy little gems add flavor and texture to all kinds of meals by sprinkling them on burgers, chicken, or sandwiches for an easy upgrade.

The best part? They usually go on sale around November, so it’s a great time to grab a can or bag while they’re cheap. This week’s mini meal plan uses crispy onions in three fun and budget-friendly ways.

We picked up 14 items at Walmart for just $29.20, but if you already have things like honey mustard or pickles at home, your total could be even lower!

Grocery List Needed for the Mini Menu

If you want to see the full shopping list on Walmart in your area, all you have to do is click my Walmart Grocery list and change the zip code to your area. *This is an affiliate link, and I do make a small commission on any purchases, but at no additional cost to you!*

**** Please note, that every once in a while, an item that I pick turns out to be regional. This means that it may be a much higher price in some areas. Always double-check the list and if you see an item that is much higher than normal, just adjust as needed.

Turkey Cheeseburgers with Baked Beans & Cucumber Slices

These juicy turkey burgers are seasoned simply and topped with melty cheese and crispy fried onions for extra flavor and crunch. Serve them with warm baked beans and cool cucumber slices or swap in canned corn or a side salad if that’s what’s on hand.

Pulled Pork Sandwiches with Sweet Potato Fries & Corn

Tender pulled pork that is coated in BBQ sauce and piled high on a bun with crispy onions and pickles for a satisfying sandwich night. Pair it with easy sweet potato fries or use regular potatoes, frozen fries, or even roasted carrots as a swap.

Crispy Onion Honey Mustard Chicken with Mashed Sweet Potatoes & Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Breaded chicken cutlets get a glow-up with a drizzle of honey mustard and a sprinkle of crispy onions, then served alongside creamy mashed sweet potatoes and oven-roasted Brussels sprouts. You can swap the sprouts for green beans or broccoli, and use ranch or Dijon instead of honey mustard if needed.
