8 Fritters for Dinner Ideas!

I’m not sure if it is a Southern thing or not but turning common vegetables into fritters can be so yummy. Most of these fritters follow the same basic steps, and honestly you can make so many different varieties.

Years ago, when my son was young, I used to make lots of different fritters for lunch because not only was it easy but they were great little handheld lunches. My son was quite the independent toddler, so these were great for him to dip and eat mostly by himself.

I’m not saying fritters are the reason he loves veggies now, but I think they may have helped a little too!

What is a Fritter?

You may only be familiar with dessert fritters, but fritters can actually be made with anything!

Vegetable Fritter Recipes

1. Broccoli Fritters

These can be made using fresh or frozen broccoli! You can also do a mix of cauliflower and broccoli together.

2. Butternut Squash Fritters

These are so yummy and work well with sweet potatoes too!

This one is surprisingly good! I was not sure about it at first, but it soooo yummy!

This one is great with ground chicken/turkey, or even canned chicken. Just make sure to drain and rinse the canned chicken to get rid of the metal taste!

I feel like this is the most common fritter, but you can add different seasonings to this make them even better!

7. Pumpkin Fritters

Technically this one is closer to a dessert type fritter but it’s pumpkin so that still counts as a veggie right?

8. Zucchini Fritters

During the summertime, this is a great one to make with a combo of zucchini and yellow squash!

Fun Ways to Add Veggies to Dinner

There is something about a fun little veggie patty that has a nice crunch that just makes dinner that much yummier. If you have kids that aren’t really into veggies, this might be an easy way to introduce veggies that they haven’t tried.

You can really use anything as a dipping sauce, so get creative and look around your fridge. My youngest sometimes goes through phases where she can put ketchup or BBQ sauce on anything, so don’t be afraid to have a lots of different dipping options!
