7 Easy Seasoning Blends to make at Home! (with FREE PDF)

Seasoning blends are super convenient, but they usually come at a higher price. If you have to buy all the individual spices, they can cost a a lot as well…

Thankfully most of us already have a lot of these common spices in our kitchen cabinet! So today we will go over 7 easy spice blends to make yourself.

1. Taco Seasoning

Even if you get the packets for 50 cents, you can easily save some money by making taco seasoning at home!

Don’t forget that taco seasoning can be used for lots of Mexican style dishes from fajitas to white rice!

2. Chili Seasoning Mix

These also appear to be super cheap to buy in a little packet, but check out the amount of salt in these! OUCH!

I find the homemade version tastes so much better than the packets as well.

3. Lemon Pepper Seasoning

Lemon Pepper can be used on chicken, fish, and even vegetables! If you do decide to make this at home, make sure to use it right away.

If you want to make some to last a while, you will need to dry out your lemon zest in the oven for about 1 hour in a 200 degree oven.

Please note that the dried zest won’t be as potent so you will need 2 tbsp instead of just one.

4. Everything Bagel Seasoning

Everything Bagel Seasoning is actually great on things other than bagels! I have seen people use it on pizzas, cottage cheese, and just a general seasoning.

5. Dry Ranch Seasoning Mix

We love this seasoning blend and use it on potatoes, jalapeƱo poppers, chicken, and tons of veggies!

This little packets can get really expensive when you buy them a lot so making your own can definitely be cheaper.

If you like the buttermilk flavor you can buy buttermilk powder, but it can be hard to find and expensive.

6. Italian Seasoning

Italian Seasoning blend is super versatile and can be used for meatballs, any pasta dish, tomato soup, and it goes well with potatoes too.

7. Montreal Steak Seasoning

Montreal Steak Seasoning obviously works well on steak, but you should try it on hamburgers, potatoes, or even a hearty pasta.

Is it worth making your own Seasoning Blends?

I find that a lot of seasoning blends are really just flavored salts. My family tries to eat as low sodium as possible, so making our own blends is essential!

There are other times that making my own seasoning blends just taste better because I can customize them to the flavors I like.

For instance, we hardly ever eat onions, so on some of the blends, I simply omit onion powder. It’s just personal preference, so you can add extra to the measurements if you really like it!
